Today marks the first of September! And September is traditionally associated with fall leaves, new school beginnings and cooler weather. Meanwhile, it’s still upwards of 110 degrees here in hell the Valley of the Sun.
I made a few more Cosi swimsuits for the twins and they’ve gotten a ton of use over the summer. I’d like to say that we’re still swimming every day and enjoying the heat but sadly, by the end of August, the water in all the local pools is about 90 degrees and it feels a little like taking a warm bath on the surface of the sun. Really enjoying my air conditioning, though. And also our giant freezer which I like to stick my head into regularly.
I originally wanted to make these suits two pieces: the plan was high waisted bottoms and the bikini top with a little peplum skirt added for more coverage. Unfortunately, the bottoms turned out too big for the twins’ skinny buns so I just ended up adding an extra strip of fabric to the waist of the bottoms and sewed the two together. The girls LOVE them!
This is such a great pattern and I can’t wait to get much more use out of it in the summer to come.
Fabric: Both prints are from The Fabric Fairy (they have the BEST swimsuit prints!); Solid is from Girl Charlee, last year.
