If you’re pregnant, you already know how hard it is to look cute every single day. Sewing gives us more options for making the perfect outfit that’s both cute and comfortable. The Agnes dress is a great place to start!
I haven’t done hardly any sewing this pregnancy, mostly because as I get older pregnancy just moves faster and faster! But I did take the time to whip up this Agnes dress by Tilly and the Buttons a few weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE it.
First of all, the construction is really easy. It involves 2 sleeves, a front and back bodice, some gathering along the front belly area, some hemming and a neck binding. That’s it! It took me a leisurely couple of hours to put it together and I’ve already worn it tons of times.
A couple notes about sizing: my pre-pregnancy measurements put me in size 4, but I ended up going with a size 5 just to be safe. It turned out that the fit was more than generous and you can see from the pictures that it ended up not very figure-hugging through the belly and hips.
After taking these pictures, I actually took it in about 3/4″ on each side and like the fit a lot better now. So I highly recommend using your pre-pregnancy measurements to find the right fit, unless you’ve gained a really significant amount of weight. I might even size down once more next time I make it, as long as my fabric has plenty of stretch.
