Welcome to 2016, y’all! I am way excited about this fresh start, my new personal goals and the awesome things I have in store for the blog and you fabulous readers. Thanks so much for being here; I really, really appreciate you!

One of my new exciting ventures for the blog in 2016 is a style series! I see fashion as a practical art form, capable of giving a woman the confidence she needs to tackle whatever life throws at her. Yet consistently putting together practical, stylish outfits every day can seem complicated, overwhelming and expensive. No wonder so many of us just default to yoga pant/pj’s and old college sweatshirts! Some of us are lucky enough to wear printed sweatshirts in the workplace, especially if the company that you’re working for provide you with a uniform. Now that is the life! Style and comfort all in one – that’s definitely the dream. #momlife

This series is called Real Life Fashion: I’ll be sharing my favorite styles and trends, plus tips on how and when to wear them. BUT I also need your help! I’m looking for input from you about your fashion dilemmas. Whether it’s wondering if you’re too old for leather or if you can pull off sequins, I want to hear it all!

Please email me at whiskem@gmail.com with any style problem you’re looking to solve. I can’t wait to hear from you!

I chose a few of my latest favorite finds for this post…Luke didn’t know what to get me for Christmas so I just bought a bunch of stuff for myself and then thanked him – ha! If you’ve got holiday cash &/or gift cards burning a hole in your pocket, now you’ve got a couple ideas for how to treat yo’self!

This swing dress from Old Navy was 50% off AND knee length! Boo ya! I bought the XL for the length and took it in on the sides. Although since it’s so flowy, it could’ve worked even without that fix. This Target vest isn’t new but it is one of my favorite layering pieces ever! I have it in this army green and also in black and it goes with EVERYthing. Can’t recommend it enough.

These booties are my most very favorite “gift” (haha!) because I’d been needing something warm for church and dressier outfits. They are full price but super comfy and they come in a billion colors. I expect to wear these puppies into the ground. The scarf was an impulse purchase because it is sooooo soft! They didn’t have this same one online but I linked to a similar one below that I also tried on and loved (plus, dirt cheap)!

Lastly, this clutch. Oh my. I’ve been dying to find a leopard print foldover clutch for a while now and was just resolved to sewing one. But then this sweet little thing fell into my life and we all lived happily ever after. I also found a Michael Kors watch at Nordstrom Rack that I’d been pining over for a long time. I can’t find it online but below is a similar one for full price. I think it’s worth stalking for a sale!

Post holiday sales are the best!

When you come visit me in Seattle I should make you come shopping and let you pick me out a super awesome outfit, since I don’t think I could write an email long enough to detail my style problems!!!
