GUYS! I am so excited to be releasing the Calypso Culottes pattern! I’m in love with the fact that culottes are BACK (um, who else totally rocked them in the ’80’s?) and this pattern is the quickest, cutest way to get some in your little munchkins’ closets!
First of all, let’s talk details. These culottes are quick, easy and C-U-T-E! They can be made from just about any flowy woven fabric you have lying around, or a somewhat sturdier knit.
I made several pairs in rayon challis because you can find the most amazing prints out there lately! But I love the knit ones equally cause they’re just so cozy. Speaking of which, the Calypsos can be made in 3 lengths: short, knee-length and pants! That makes this a year-round pattern!
Last, but not least, is the flat front waistband and pleats! I think these two details give the culottes a bit of a dressier look and mean they can be worn to school or parties without looking like your kid just rolled out of bed (even if she did- no judgment here).
Don’t be afraid of the pleats or the waistband, both are super duper easy. The pattern has detailed instructions and color photos to guide you through.
The best part of the Calypso Culottes for me is that they’re so darn easy, they’re a quick and easy solution for filling holes in a kid’s wardrobe. With just one free afternoon, you can bang out 4 or 5 pairs of these!
Ooh! I almost forgot! You also have the option of adding contrasting fabric to the pockets of your culottes. This is one of those “neat-o” factors that doesn’t take any extra effort at all…and your kid will LOVE it. I mean…seriously cute!!
