Plus, I've got a brand new video to show you how!

Hey, hey! Happy Monday!

I used my down time this weekend (two days of a stomach bug!  YUCK!) to put together a new video for you guys!

I’m really excited about this one because it’s such a useful how-to! Every one of my little girls loves wearing dresses, regardless of the occasion. And the twirlier the better!

But the only downside is that they have no qualms about showing their little underwear all over the playground in said dresses.

Enter: knit modesty shorts! In the past, I’ve bought these from the store (not always easy to find) or made them by cutting off old knit leggings (not always available) but now we can make them from scratch!

They are a SUPER easy project and perfect for someone who’s just beginning sewing with knits. Everyone seems to be scared of knits when they start out but they can open up a whole new world of sewing possibilities! And it (almost) doesn’t get any easier than this.

In this video, I’ll show you how to use a pair of RTW (ready-to-wear or store bought) knit shorts or leggings as a template to make your own paper pattern and then cut and sew a brand new pair (or 5!) for your little girl(s).

You’ll need:

1 pair of RTW shorts or leggings
cardstock to make the pattern
paper & fabric scissors
1 yard knit fabric
about 1 yard 1″ elastic (I forgot to add this supply to the video!)
*The sizing tags I talk about in the video can be found HERE!

These little shorts are really helpful to have around and I hope you love this video. Please let me know if you have any questions and/or suggestions for my next video!

Is there a way to make a raglan sleeve tee pattern from a regular set in sleeve tee?

Yes! There sure is. So essentially, you have to combine the bodice and sleeve patterns of a traditional set in sleeve shirt, then redraw and cut the sleeves as raglans. I recommend using a rtw raglan tee as a guide, if you have one, or pulling up a pic online to get an idea of where to draw them. It might take a little trial and error to get it right! Good luck 🙂
