How to Sew a Circle Skirt Dress

Today’s new video will show you how to sew a circle skirt dress! And even better, we’re using an existing T-shirt to cut our work in half. Watch the video to make the perfect twirly dress for your little one!

We’re obsessed with all things twirly over here at our house. I mean, we do have 5 girls after all, and circle skirts top the list of favorite garments to wear all day, every day (a close second: sparkly leotards).

Circle skirts are VERY easy to make, but they do require just a bit of math. In the video, I break down the process and make it super, duper easy. It just requires a couple of your model’s measurements and one calculation on your phone’s calculator. See? Painless!

You can also use this handy dandy circle skirt calculator here that does all the math for you and even tells you how much fabric you’ll need.

This video even shows you how to use an existing T-shirt and just add the skirt to it. The T-shirt I use in this video was actually made previously using this video tutorial, but if you wanna make life easy on yourself, a regular knit T-shirt from Target or Walmart will work just fine!

I made these cactus dresses for the girls ages ago and never got around to blogging about them! They are seriously the twins FAVORITE dresses, hands down. You can still get this fabric in the white colorway HERE!

Maybe I just missed it but I couldn’t find the link for the pattern for the circle skirt (how to sew a circle skirt). Could you please send me the address/link. I would love to make it!

Hi Mia! There’s no pattern because it depends on the waist measurement and the length that you want. Click the link to the circle skirt calculator (https://byhandlondon.com/pages/circle-skirt-app) and it will walk you through finding the right measurements for the skirt you need. (It’ll save you a ton of paper and ink too because circle skirt patterns can be HUGE!) Be sure to watch the video in the post…it will help a lot.
