It’s October – YAY! Our Arizona weather has finally turned and we’re getting in the Fall spirit over here. Bring me all the chili and cornbread!

I love Halloween as much as the next suburban housewife but I do have to admit that I’m really not a fan of the spooky and gross stuff. When I go to a festive party and there are appetizers in the shape of creepy crawlies, it kind of makes me want to throw up.

But costumes and pumpkins and candy?? Sign me up!

That’s why, when contemplating what kind of Halloween decor I wanted for our new little farmhouse, I knew it needed to be fun, colorful and not at all scary! So read on (and watch the video below) for some fun Cricut Halloween ideas!

I created this cute banner (you know, to get the message across loud and clear) as well as some chipboard “candies” to hang and festive Halloween window cling. And I used my Cricut Maker machine for the whole thing! Watch the video below for step by step instructions and be sure to read my notes as well.

Happy decorating!

NOTES:

  1. I used my Cricut rotary blade to cut out all the letters for the banner and it worked like a breeze. I first ironed on fusible web (also called Wonder Under) on the back using my extra large (12″x10″) new Easy Press 2 machine! It worked perfectly at 350 degrees for 30 seconds. I loved using the cute little sized Easy Press 2 (6″x7″) which was ideal for adhering these letters. You could also use some of this fusible fabric from Cricut that’s all ready to iron on and make your life a little easier.[spacer height=”20px”]
  2. I had a great time cutting chipboard with my Cricut Maker and the new knife blade! There are a few things you need to know before using the knife blade, however, so check out this information page. I also found this video extremely helpful. Watching that knife blade work was just fascinating![spacer height=”20px”]
  3. For the banner letters, I used Eagle Bold font (sized up to 310). I also took down the line space to about -4 so that I could squeeze as many letters onto my fabric mat as possible.[spacer height=”20px”]
  4. You can find the candy corn image I used here and the wrapped candy image is here. Also click here to find all the images I used for the window cling! This was my first time using this medium and I LOVED it! It cut like a dream (using a light grip mat and fine point blade) and they look so stinking cute on our window. My kids are obsessed with them![spacer height=”20px”]
  5. The fabric I covered the candy with is felt. You can easily cut these out using your rotary cutter and Cricut Maker or even by hand since these shapes are pretty simple. And that’s it! I hope you loved this Halloween DIY – let me know what you’re most excited to try!
