Have I mentioned yet how fantastically easy and fun circle dresses are to make for little girls?? My kids are obsessed and so am I!
I made my 3 big girls knit circle dresses out of a turquoise cheetah print fabric this summer and they have worn those things ragged! I drafted my own pattern for those but forgot to save my pattern. Doh.
I bought Sew Much Ado’s Pretty in Peplum pattern a while back cause it is AH-dorable and decided to just hack it for the next couple circle dresses.
I just measured my girls from their natural waist to their knee. Then I cut out all the pattern pieces needed for the Pretty in Peplum top, and just added enough length to the peplum part to turn it into a knee-length skirt. For example, if the peplum was originally 7 inched long, and my girls waist-to-knee measurement was 15″, I just added 8″ to the peplum and bada-boom: a circle dress!
My only other change to the pattern was taking in the bodice a bit because my girls are still kinda puny. The lavendar floral I bought on a FB fabric destash page and don’t know the source (sorry!) but this amazing turquoise floral is a big seller on Girl Charlee. I’ve also used it for mini Hudson pants which looked WAY cute 😉
I plan on making these till my kids go to college!
