Have you ever wondered what your personal style is and what it says about you? If you’re uninspired by your closet and dread getting dressed every day, it might just be that your wardrobe doesn’t reflect your true personality! Whether someone decides to buy clothes from sites like Monroe-clothing.com, from the charity shops or wants to switch things up with a couple of designer pieces, it’s about knowing what you like and what items work well with each other. With this being said, fashion is subjective. So if someone feels comfortable in what they are wearing, at the end of the day, that’s what should matter.

I love all sorts of clothing silhouettes and colors but have realized that a preppy colorful style is right up my alley. Here’s how to find your own personal style!

< Here's how to find your own personal style! I used to have a closet just chock full of colorful prints and patterns and it was a rarity to find any neutral colored clothes. But in recent years, I started pulling away from all those wild and crazy colors and patterns. I started buying more items from boho womens clothing, particularly solids and wearing more classic silhouettes. It might have been because I thought I should wear more timeless pieces as I get older, or it might have been because I was inspired by other bloggers and pictures on the internet of women in neutral, more “serious” outfits.

Change, change, change

Regardless of the reason, just this year I suddenly looked at my closet and realized that I hated the majority of it. I thought it was all boring, I dreaded getting dressed and nothing inspired me anymore. Have you ever wondered what your personal style is and what it says about you? I was tired of army green and white and black and just wished I had more crazy patterns in my life. Behold, my somewhat midlife closet crisis wherein I realized that I hadn’t been true to my own fashion sense and inner stylist. (Like in this post! Cute, but not really me). Has that ever happened to anyone else? I made the decision to once again only purchase items that are bold, bright and make me feel happy. I realized that if an article of clothing isn’t a statement piece, then I really don’t have much interest in wearing it. I also reminded myself of the stores that tend to carry the styles that make me the happiest: namely J. Crew (and J. Crew Factory for a more affordable alternative!), Boden and occasionally Anthropologie. Now I’m more likely to save my shekels for a fabulous printed top from one of these stores, instead of grabbing something cheap at H&M or Target. The whole point of this is to inspire you to ask yourself: “Does looking in my closet make me happy?” “Do the majority of my clothes make me excited to wear them?” “Would I purchase the items in my closet again and again or do I wish I could start over with my wardrobe?” Changing your style doesn’t have to be crazy expensive or drastic. It can just start with one or two pieces that really reflect your style and that you just LOVE. If you don’t even know where to start, hop on Pinterest! (I use this board to pin all the clothing items that catch my eye) and just start saving all the things that inspire you and make you wanna grab them right off the screen. I bet you’ll see a pattern to what you love pretty quickly! Alternatively, you can look at many clothing sites online and see what they have on offer, and even look at what the models on their page are wearing – that’s what usually inspires me! You can do this by finding out more at fillyflair.com, or visiting another online store that perhaps catches your eye.

If you had to name your style, what would it be??

Casual, comfy, classic + bohemian and preppy. I couldn’t stick with one!
