Happy Monday, my friends!  Today I get to show you one of my very favorite sewing projects of all time: the knit pencil skirt!  I happen to (think I) look good in pencil skirts so I wear them alllll the time.  And when the cute ladies at Simple Simon and Company asked me to review their knit pencil skirt pattern, I was happy to!

I’ll admit, I’ve never used an actual pattern to make pencil skirts in the past but that meant that the fit and length were always different and never exactly perfect.  This pattern fixes all that!  I actually sewed up 3 of these things in just an hour or so (just only got the chance to photograph one…look for the others on Instagram soon!)

And if you’re a sewing newbie, I’m always recommending pencil skirts as a beginner knit project.   In fact, I’ve taught lots of classes on how to sew a knit pencil skirt! This pattern makes that even easier.  My only tip if you’re hesitant to hem knits is to use this Heat n Bond hem tape first and then stitch your hem down with a double needle.  I learned this trip from Heather and it is a GAME changer when hemming knits!  They turn out perfectly every time.

Go forth and sew yourself some skirts – and let me know how they turn out!
